I'm taking a break from a senior project to tell you...
We closed on our house yesterday! It was so exciting. On the way Steve asked me if I was nervous at all, and I didn't hesitate to say, "NO!" And I wasn't lying at all! I was not nervous, and I am still not nervous. I am just plain excited. And Steve had to agree. There were no big surprises and nothing that was unexpected. We were so glad.
So we didn't sign it early enough in the day to get the keys yesterday or today. So we have to wait until Monday for it all to be recorded and official. But we get keys Monday and then we'll start moving in. We can't wait!!!
It's going to be hard right smack in the middle of the semester. But I must say...it was perfect timing! I have an assignment due the day before the big move, so that will be over. A week after we move in is spring break. HOLLA!!! That will give me a week to get somewhat situated. And I won't have another assignment due for another couple weeks. So at least I'm not right in the thick of assignments. And it's lucky I don't have any tests. So we did get lucky in that department.
WOO WOO!!!
And we're excited because we got a killer deal on a kitchen table set from a furniture business that is going out of business. That's coming in a few weeks.
I also can't forget about the free sample of Quaker Oats Squares cereal I ordered a couple weeks ago. That will be coming soon. That will put the cherry on top of our exciting move!
Now back to my senior workshop project. I'm not sure how I'm able to focus on anything else right now.

So close!
We're closing on the house this week! We're hoping we'll be able to do it Wednesday and get the keys by the weekend so we can move on the weekend. But realistically we are looking at closing Friday and not getting the keys until early next week.
Either way, WE ARE EXCITED!!!
We went to our new ward yesterday and I immediately felt the Spirit with the first person we spoke to. They welcomed us in and told us how excited they were that we were moving in to their ward. They then immediately volunteered to help us move, whenever that is.
We had at least 10 different people/couples come up to us and tell us they were ready to help us and welcome us. We even had a man tell us that if we ever needed an extra car, they had one we could use! How sweet is that???
We've never had such a wonderful welcome in our previous two wards. I think it's because this ward is MUCH more established with older couples that have been living here for years raising their children. So a new couple is definitely unusual and exciting.
Nevertheless, we are SO thankful that our ward is loving and welcoming. I already feel "at home" with those people.

Box it up
We FINALLY started packing up the house. Mostly it's only the non-essentials like decorations, pictures, and all the summer stuff. So we have about 12 boxes sitting in the living room, ready to go! WOO.
Our other inspection is tomorrow. This is the inspection we need to make sure everything is good for the type of loan and down payment assistance we are getting. This is the one where we'll need to install smoke detectors, GFI outlets, and strap our water heater for earthquakes. And who knows what else...?
We should be able to close in two weeks!!! It's an incredible feeling. It feels more real now that we are starting to pack up. But again...every day I get more excited for the move and getting to be on our own!!

One more step closer
Our appraisal was done on Monday. Now we just have to get the FHA inspection thingy done and install all those little things before we move in. And then we get to do some paperwork and close on our home!!!
It's so fun to think we'll be living on our own soon, with NO NEIGHBORS attached to us. We won't have to hear them walking, talking, or building things right above us anymore! I really cannot tell you how excited I am about that.
Now to start packing...

Money Money Money
Our house appraisal is set for Monday! WOOOO!
We are WAY ahead of schedule and are so excited that we could be moving a couple weeks before out actual closing deadline date. Woohoo!
Now we just need to find some good smoke dectectors, strap in that good ole water heater, and put in some GFCI outlets in the kitchen... We'll see if the FHA inspector finds anything we have to do.
Also, I just paid for graduation! I always complained that we had to pay the school (again) to graduate even though we've been paying tuition and such. But today when I paid, I did not care. I decided it was a small fee just so I could feel accomplished. So I'll pay the $30 for a cap, gown, and a piece of paper with my name on it. What the hey...
SO EXCITEEEEEDDDD!!!
Can you tell I'm excited?

FINALLY
We are so excited to share that we will be buying a home soon! We put an offer in on a house last Monday and our offer was accepted the next morning! We are sooo excited!!!
We had our inspection done this past Saturday, and it went pretty decently. There are some minor things that need to be done, and then some bigger things that we'll need to start saving up for.
Our home will be quite empty until we save up for the furniture we want, but it will be our home. We are so excited for this new journey we've started. Soon we'll have to put up a cheesy picture of us in front of our house with the sold sign!
CAN'T WAIT!!!! We'll keep you updated! :D

New Year for growth!
This new year is going to be a good one. Wanna know the main reason why???
I GRADUATE!!!
Be excited with me! Do a happy dance!
I have been waiting and waiting. I was starting to think that school was just a perpetual thing that just keeps going on and on until forever. But the end is in sight! It is within my reach! Only a few more months! I'm pumped!
I have lots of pictures from days of old that I haven't posted, and they probably won't get posted because it will be one of those weird catch up blogs about things that I hardly remember. So I'm not going to worry about it. But some were kinda funny.
So I thought I'd talk about my goals for the year. My mom and I decided to do some weight losing with each other. Ten pounds by the end of February. I know I can do it -- people have lost more faster than that. But I've never actively tried to lose weight, so this is a whole new concept for me. Also, my main goal for the year is to get healthier. So here they are specifically...
1. Drink more water.
2. Exercise at least 3 times per week.
3. Eat more apples. [I'm still trying to decide if I should set a number, because eating just three would be an improvement from last year...]
4. GRADUATE!!!!
I just added that last one to get me excited and motivate me for graduation. HOLLER!!!
So there they are. They are simple and not complex, which is exactly what I need. If it gets too complex I give up because it's not easy. So I'm starting off easy. And I must say, I have exercised once already...AND it was EARLY this morning. THAT is a big deal. And I have already eaten one apple this year. Two more and I will have beaten last year's record! Haha. But I'm pulling for more like a few a week.
Anyway, I'm going for the whole, "I put this out there for everyone to see and I'll be responsible to others to prove I am doing it" idea.
So watch out Ogden, Utah! Here I come...eatin' up all your apples!
