Signed, Sealed, Delivered

I'm taking a break from a senior project to tell you...

We closed on our house yesterday! It was so exciting. On the way Steve asked me if I was nervous at all, and I didn't hesitate to say, "NO!" And I wasn't lying at all! I was not nervous, and I am still not nervous. I am just plain excited. And Steve had to agree. There were no big surprises and nothing that was unexpected. We were so glad.

So we didn't sign it early enough in the day to get the keys yesterday or today. So we have to wait until Monday for it all to be recorded and official. But we get keys Monday and then we'll start moving in. We can't wait!!!

It's going to be hard right smack in the middle of the semester. But I must say...it was perfect timing! I have an assignment due the day before the big move, so that will be over. A week after we move in is spring break. HOLLA!!! That will give me a week to get somewhat situated. And I won't have another assignment due for another couple weeks. So at least I'm not right in the thick of assignments. And it's lucky I don't have any tests. So we did get lucky in that department.

WOO WOO!!!

And we're excited because we got a killer deal on a kitchen table set from a furniture business that is going out of business. That's coming in a few weeks.

I also can't forget about the free sample of Quaker Oats Squares cereal I ordered a couple weeks ago. That will be coming soon. That will put the cherry on top of our exciting move!

Now back to my senior workshop project. I'm not sure how I'm able to focus on anything else right now.

So close!

We're closing on the house this week! We're hoping we'll be able to do it Wednesday and get the keys by the weekend so we can move on the weekend. But realistically we are looking at closing Friday and not getting the keys until early next week.

Either way, WE ARE EXCITED!!!

We went to our new ward yesterday and I immediately felt the Spirit with the first person we spoke to. They welcomed us in and told us how excited they were that we were moving in to their ward. They then immediately volunteered to help us move, whenever that is.

We had at least 10 different people/couples come up to us and tell us they were ready to help us and welcome us. We even had a man tell us that if we ever needed an extra car, they had one we could use! How sweet is that???

We've never had such a wonderful welcome in our previous two wards. I think it's because this ward is MUCH more established with older couples that have been living here for years raising their children. So a new couple is definitely unusual and exciting.

Nevertheless, we are SO thankful that our ward is loving and welcoming. I already feel "at home" with those people.

Box it up

We FINALLY started packing up the house. Mostly it's only the non-essentials like decorations, pictures, and all the summer stuff. So we have about 12 boxes sitting in the living room, ready to go! WOO.

Our other inspection is tomorrow. This is the inspection we need to make sure everything is good for the type of loan and down payment assistance we are getting. This is the one where we'll need to install smoke detectors, GFI outlets, and strap our water heater for earthquakes. And who knows what else...?

We should be able to close in two weeks!!! It's an incredible feeling. It feels more real now that we are starting to pack up. But again...every day I get more excited for the move and getting to be on our own!!
